The first image I used was very simple to cleanup, as it is mainly composed of solid black and white. The solid version would be good for filling in with colour. I experimented with darkening it, which made the background stand out (but not in a particularly aesthetically pleasing way), and also lightening it- which created a wash effect that may be interesting to work with in the future. It will be interesting to see what a colour underlay looks like under this one.

I also experimented with another image which had more greyscale qualities. It provided a larger range of possible outcomes. The latter two images are similar and could be used for similar purposes, although the lighter image may be better suited to colour underlays and the darker one better alone as it stands out more. The top image, in which the scan was drastically lightened brought out new and interesting shapes I had not noticed beforehand.
