A-Z typology: sketchbook preparation

Initially I dove straight into designing images, but was struggling to create without an idea in mind of the final media. I tested and settled on a loose use of gouache.

I tried as much as possible to avoid the obvious. I wanted to really push the boundaries of the surreality of the piece- partially because I was safe in the knowledge that I could aid my pictures with words. Without words it would have been a very different story and I would have had to be much more careful and deliberate with my visual choices.
