progress tutorial feedback

Feedback
  • The zine I've made looks pretty much done! The idea is fun and should do well because of that.
  • Now is the time to go back to working on the author brief, although it has been good to get the zine project done and out of the way.
  • Self publishing zines and small projects like this could become a part of my future practice, maybe as a sideline to client lead work.

  • The Guardian have asked art students to apply with portfolio pieces for their website and I was concerned that I do not have anything portfolio worthy, be it for The Guardian or otherwise. It was suggested that I should and do have time to work on refining my ideas for the author project, not to a final image but creating a good quality version of what I have- which could be used for this or it is just good to do anyway. I have a lot of quick sketchy things but haven't taken time to practice any craftsmanship which I can with this.
  • The more proportional style that I used looks good and should be practiced, it is good to be diverse and this may signal a new direction in my work.

  • Start to look at design theory. Ben suggested I look at designobserver.com for a more thoughtful practice. This may also be a very useful website to go to for my COP project too
