visual communication: Adobe Illustrator workshop 2

I tried altering the shape to create a more organic looking leaf but it looked strange and uneven. Maybe I should embrace the perfect shapes of Illustrator.

I altered the opacity of the radish leaves to overlap. As I lost the opacity I also lost the saturation of the colour, and would like to find a tool similar to Photoshop's multiply so I don't lose the colour intensity that otherwise works so well on Illustrator.

I tried tracing directly over a stock photo of a hand. Tracing over something, be it a photo or a sketch proves much more fruitful than trying to make it up as you go along with Illustrator.

Tutorials for future reference

Here is a tutorial on using the multiply mode on Illustrator and here is a tutorial on how to create a grain effect.
