one week book: final result

strengths:

  • This week was a very enjoyable experience! I feel that as a group we co-operated and worked together successfully, even in the absence of some team members on some days.
  • Although we didn't aim for a 'house-style' I feel that our images compliment each other nicely. We all agreed on a focus on texture and shape and this created a coherence between the images, whilst also creating a variety of images.

weaknesses:

  • When visiting the market itself none of us were brave enough to pipe up and speak, at length, to any of the visitors or traders! Doing so may well have influenced our project in a different or deeper way. Nonetheless we managed to obtain some interesting quotes from overheard conversations.
  • The actual physical print process: there was some issue with printing the green layer of colour. Often details on the edges would be missed out. We concluded as a group that we had possibly mixed the ink too thick (as the pink was fine).
  • Two of the pages accidentally got mixed around from the original plan. Despite this I feel that the narrative still works. The contrast between the two characters in the spread together and the contrast between the two markets in the next creates the same story, but in a slightly different way. The last character before the final market scene ties the stories together.
