about the author: initial storyboard/ animation ideas

After working with After Effects I'm starting to understand that the animation/ film needs to be simple. I was encouraged to look at the work of Saul Bass and how an object just moving around in a certain way can be quite effective.

With this storyboard I imagined small sound effects with an atmospheric music track. The objects would move and wiggle in a disconcerting and surreal way. Out of these storyboards I think it is the most effective and also achievable, but I wonder if it is too simple, and whether the time I save on animation could be put into making more detailed images. I am considering using traditional methods to make the assets, maybe even paper cut, but in some way it must visually match the prints.

This animation is mostly made of panning, and more complex images than the last so I think it would be achievable. The idea was to create a dream like scenario with strange repetitions, and again, an uneasy feeling. More atmospheric music and relevant sound effects. Still, I don't think it has enough of a story to be captivating and is not enough of a 'not-story' to just be a surreal sequence of images.

I feel similarly about the next one too.

The problem with all of these however is the time limit! I don't think any of these would be achievable in a fifteen second sting. If I used twelve different scenes in a fifteen second sting they would be just over a second each on screen! This would be confusing and uncomfortable to watch
